Catholic Cemeteries Logo

Our Logo

cem-logo-1.png

The Diocese of Lansing Catholic Cemeteries logo consists of two images -the cross and eternal flame.

The Cross symbolizes faith and hope in the resurrection and  considered the perfect symbol of Christ’s sacrifice in Christianity.

The Flame is a Greek symbol for truth and eternal life.  A lit torch near a grave or grave place signifies perpetual memory. “The gift of God is eternal life” (Rom 6:23)

The logo’s blue field represents the Diocese of Lansing, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Mary is a model for Christians who wish to follow the words of Jesus, "Take up your cross each day and follow me."  Over the centuries her sorrows are remembered in various feasts such as Our Lady Of Sorrows (September 15) and depicted in great works of Christian art, such as the Pieta.
