Ministry Positions in the Diocese of Lansing 

Administrative Assistant

Department of Formation, Diocese of Lansing

The Formation Department of the Diocese of Lansing is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant position. The position primarily provides administrative support for the Department Chair and the Director of Consecrated Vocations, but also assists the other ministry directors in the department as needed.  The position is responsible for supporting our seminarians from their application, through their discernment and education, all the way through ordination.  The position also administers the Albers Trust Fund for Seminarian Education.  The diocese seeks to fill this position with a joyful servant who radiates the Gospel message of Christ’s loving call to everyone. 

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

Manage the departmental office including calendars, databases, web pages, and files.

Work directly with other diocesan offices such as human resources and finance regarding seminarian background checks, benefits, stipends, and financial aid.

Work directly with undergraduate and major seminaries, to coordinate seminarian education.

Draft, edit, and proofread correspondence.

Assist in drafting and monitoring the departmental budget. 

Coordinate formation board interviews for candidates.

Gather data and prepare reports concerning vocation trends.

Maintain close and cordial relationships with outside organizations that support seminarian education such as the Knights of Columbus.

Maintain all records according to the record retention schedule.

Assist with the production of informational/promotional materials for the department.

Coordinate and/or assist with diocesan events such as presentations at parochial schools, our diocesan high schools, and priest and diaconal ordinations.

Requirements include:

Must be a practicing Catholic possessing knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of the Church’s teachings and precepts.  Must have a strong passion for the vocation of the priesthood.

Must be joyfully committed to the work of vocations, the New Evangelization, and the ongoing formation of adult Catholics.   

Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an administrative field.

At least three years of experience in an administrative support role with increasing responsibility.

Fluent user of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word and Excel.

Must exhibit positive communication skills and be able to build strong interpersonal relationships.

Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Schedule is Monday – Friday at the Diocese of Lansing, with occasional evening and weekend work during special events.

Worship and Social Justice Coordinator

Foster Care Case Manager

Maintenance Worker

Holy Spirit Church, Brighton

Holy Spirit Catholic Church is accepting applications for the maintenance worker position.  The person in this position will work to provide preventive maintenance and repairs on all parish and school equipment, vehicles, buildings and grounds to ensure safety to all persons, staff and visitors, and to extend life and appearance of items listed above.  The employee will work as part of a team with the pastor and staff, organizing and supervising maintenance volunteers, prioritizing and completing maintenance requests in a timely manner. The employee must be able to move and load equipment and supplies that weighs 50 pounds and more, must be able to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders, etc. He/she must be able to work independently without direct supervision.

Part-Time Liturgical Music Director

St. Anthony Catholic Parish, Hillsdale

St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish in Hillsdale, Michigan is seeking candidates for the part-time, salaried position of Liturgical Music Director. Part-time Chaplain 

U of M Health System
The Spiritual Care Department at the University of Michigan Health System is currently seeking a 15 hr/wk priest to provide on-call coverage in the evenings for Roman Catholic sacramental needs.
A successful candidate will assess and evaluate the religious and spiritual needs of patients, families and staff and work as member of the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients. Participate in a rotational on-call. Serve as liaison to community religious leaders while representing the institution to the public. Participate in educational programs as appropriate.
Required qualifications are a Master of Divinity or equivalent, ordained Roman Catholic priest with permission to function in the Diocese of Lansing.
Desired qualifications include Clinical Pastoral Education, certification or eligible for certification by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains or the Association of Professional Chaplains, experience as a community pastor, and experience in hospital chaplaincy.

Admissions Enrollment Field Consultant

The Diocese of Grand Rapids is seeking a full-time Admissions Enrollment Field Consultant for our Catholic schools.  The Coordinator is responsible for providing strategic guidance in the creation and execution of a comprehensive diocesan enrollment growth execution plan designed to reach out to populations where Catholic families are underserved by Catholic schools.  The successful candidate will also assist schools in identifying and executing marketing and outreach recruitment tactics to meet enrollment objectives, developing an implementation time-line, and establishing metrics for success.

Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required while a Master’s degree in Education, Marketing/Communications is preferred. Previous experience in sales and/or sales management is needed. Additional experience successfully working in Catholic schools preferably in a leadership position with experience coaching educators to implement school change is preferred.  Must have strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills and be experienced working with Hispanic populations.  Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.  Candidates should be an effective team leader with the ability to set goals and metrics and drive results with outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to problem-solve and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.  Must have a strong commitment to strengthening and sustaining Catholic PreK-12 schools.  Knowledge of and support for the mission of Catholic school as well as familiarity with the Diocese of Grand Rapids Catholic schools, geography, demographics, and community leadership desirable.

Catholic Schools Marketing Communications Coordinator

The Diocese of Grand Rapids is seeking a full-time Marketing Communications Coordinator responsible for implementing an ongoing K-12 marketing plan and program for Catholic schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.  This position requires an individual with marketing communications expertise to work as a tactician assisting our schools in identifying short and long term marketing goals which work best for each school and aiding the schools in fully developing and carrying out the marketing plan. The coordinator will mentor school marketing committees; assist schools with website development and enhancement, mobile applications and social media. Experience: Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field required. Athletic Director - Grand Rapids Area Catholic Elementary Athletic Council
