Tribunal Judge

Diocese of Lansing, Lansing

The Diocese of Lansing is accepting applications for the position of Tribunal Judge.  This position works closely with the Judicial Vicar and other members of the Diocesan Tribunal to instruct and complete matrimonial cases in a timely manner and to research and prepare a report on other canonical issues, as they arise.  This canonist will be expected to hold the office of Judge and to act professionally, confidentially, and ethically in this office.  Collaboration and teamwork are valued, as is a willingness to take on other canonical duties as needed.  It is also necessary to be able to respond rationally and calmly to questions or complaints raised by the parties in nullity cases.  

The position is full time (40 hours/week) in a Tribunal that intakes between 250 and 275 cases per year. Director of Evangelization and Discipleship Formation

St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish, Adrian

St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish, located one mile apart from each other in Adrian, Michigan, with a total of about 1,600 registered households, are seeking to hire together a minister in charge of developing a single vibrant evangelization and discipleship formation program for adults and students/youth. The Director of Evangelization and Discipleship Formation ministry is a full-time, salaried pastoral ministry position and includes a benefits package. The ministry will include routine day, evening, and weekend commitments. This minister will be under the supervision of the Pastors of St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Parishes, work with the staff members of both parishes, serve the parishioners of both parishes (adults & youth), and be the pastors’ liaison to the Diocese regarding any matters of discipleship or evangelization.

Duties related to adult parishioners will include the implementation of a single discipleship program for adults (e.g., Christ Life, Alpha, etc.) yet to be selected in conjunction with parishioners from both parishes, training volunteer ministers to lead discipleship groups, coordinating discipleship group meetings according to the format of the selected discipleship program, and working with parishioners from both parishes in developing annual events aimed at both deepening the discipleship of current members, and at reaching out to people who do not know Christ or the Church.

Duties related to students/youth will include transitioning the current student Catechesis programs from a classroom model to a common experience that provides students/youth from both parishes engaging opportunities to develop a relationship with Christ, learn about the Catholic faith, do service both in and outside of the parish communities, and become evangelists who share their faith with others. This includes recruiting and training adult volunteer ministers to directly implement this ministry.

Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, or a related field. Critical qualities needed for this position include but are not limited to a strong personal relationship with Christ, and love for the Catholic Church; experience in a leadership capacity in a parish, other church, or non-profit setting; optimism; self-motivation; organization; excellent verbal and written skills; team building and team working skills; and good canonical standing with the Catholic Church. Ideal candidates will have some command of Spanish and a comfort working with Latino Catholic culture.

Child Welfare Case Manager

St. Vincent Catholic Charities, Lansing
 
Provides and implements a workable plan to increase the level of functioning of the foster child and the birth family where applicable. Works cooperatively with foster families, birth families, foster child, referral agency, school personnel, and other professional personnel involved in the treatment of the foster child. Provides a consultative and supportive role for foster families in meeting the needs of the foster child.
 
Performs all required adoption casework services for children in foster care for whom adoption is their goal and parental rights have been terminated. Complete family assessments for families wishing to adopt infants and special needs children. As part of family assessments, the specialist will provide information to prospective adoption applicants through orientation meetings. Post adoption services will include search and reunion activities, and other services as requested or needed by the family.
 
OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Attend, provide reports, and testify for required court hearings (Preliminary, Pre-Trial, Dispositional, Review, Permanent Wardship, etc.);
 
Prepare and place child in his/her designated foster home, determine child’s need of clothing and personal items, and inform foster parents of child’s background and other necessary information;
 
Complete Initial Service Plan within 30 days of the child entering agency care; 
 
Complete Updated Service Plan quarterly for each child in care;
 
Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation to answer crisis calls and provide supportive services to foster & adoptive parents, children, and their families.
 
Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human behavioral science, Master’s preferred.
 
Experience: Some clinical and case management experience with children and families preferred.
 
There is a $1,000.00 Signing Bonus for a candidate that has already completed the State of Michigan CWTI Training.

Data Management Clerk (Part-Time)

A member of the Development, Community Relations, and Marketing Team, the position is responsible for assisting and supporting the team in the successful implementation of donor and community cultivation. Position is responsible for processing and reporting of all donor, volunteer, and gift information/acknowledgements, including daily contribution processing, scheduling management of donor cultivation contacts, and event information.

Responsible for:
Electronic mailing lists; Data and pattern analysis; System enhancement and reporting; Creating reports; Daily/Monthly revenue report reconciliation w/STVCC’s Accounting department.
 
Information on donors, pledges, revenue sources (individual/corporate/special interest), and events is tracked in the Donor Perfect system (database). This position also offers clerical support for special projects, volunteer applications, and is a back-up role for the Agency’s main receptionist.
 
Successful Candidate would possess:
One year of experience as an Office Administrator or Manager;
Proficiency in MS Office;

The Bookkeeper at St. Joseph Parish will assist the Business Manager and parish ministries with bookkeeping duties to ensure proper procedure are followed and records are maintained according to Diocesan policy.  This position is responsible for processing the accounts payable function, check preparation and filing.  The Bookkeeper will oversee volunteers who count the Sunday collection, ensuring proper procedures are followed. Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining the parish data base including posting contribution records, new parishioner registrations and thank you/donation letters.  In addition this position will process the parish weekly deposit ensuring things are recorded and proper policy is followed. Director of RCIA, Youth/Children Catechesis

St Joseph Parish and St Mary of Good Counsel Parish, Adrian

St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish, located one mile apart from each other in Adrian, Michigan, with a total of approximately 1,600 registered households, are seeking to hire together a minister responsible for the preparation of adults (R.C.I.A.) and youth/children (sacramental catechesis) for the sacraments of initiation; the recording of sacramental data; and the recording of training.  The Sacramental Preparation Coordinator's ministry is a part-time position that will include routine evening, and occasional weekend commitments, and increased hours during peak  sacramental periods (Lent/Easter).  This minister will be under the supervision of the Pastors of St. Joseph's and St. Mary's Parishes, work with the staff members of both parishes, serve the parishioners of both parishes, and be the pastors' liaison to the diocese regarding matters related to recording sacramental data, and maintaining records related to the diocesan office of child and youth protection.

Ministry related to adults includes coordinating a single Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) program for both parishes (with liturgical rites taking place at both parishes), empowering a team of volunteer ministers to assist with the R.C.I.A. program (team leaders, sponsors), and recording the appropriate data in each of the parishes sacramental registers.

Ministry related to children/youth includes coordinating infant baptism preparation classes, empowering volunteer ministers to carry out these classes; and preparing students and parents for first Reconciliation, first Eucharist, and Confirmation.

Preferred candidates will have experience working in a parish catechetical program, or Catholic education; good organizational skills; excellent verbal and written skills; team building and team working skills; and good canonical standing with the Catholic Church.  Ideal candidates will have some command of Spanish and comfort working with Latino Catholic culture.
