Managing Editor - FAITH Catholic

FAITH Catholic is looking for a dynamic, creative individual to edit an award-winning Catholic magazine. Primary responsibilities include planning, scheduling, copy development and implementation of all aspects necessary to produce assigned FAITH Catholic publications, specifically FAITH Grand Rapids magazine and Homilies/Commentaries. The individual will serve as managing editor of the Diocese of Grand Rapids FAITH magazine. The managing editor will also act as primary point of contact with diocesan offices, parishes, schools, and designers to plan content, update the editorial calendar and produce original content. The managing editor will also recruit and oversee freelance writers while working with FAITH Catholic staff and designers.

The managing editor will be based at the Diocese of Grand Rapids offices and will be expected to participate in the office environment as if he/she were a Diocese of Grand Rapids employee. The managing editor will also be responsible for FAITH Catholic’s Homilies/Commentaries product that will entail working in the offices of FAITH Catholic in Lansing one
day per week, and working remotely at other times.

QUALIFICATIONS
• B.A. in English, communications or writing.
• Strong language skills, including grammar and proofreading
• Five or more years of editorial experience
• Ability to manage freelance authors
• Strong editing and proofreading skills
• Practicing Catholic with understanding of essential Catholic Church teachings and issues
• Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel expertise.

Math Teacher

Fr. Gabriel Richard High School, Ann Arbor

Father Gabriel Richard High School, a private college prep Catholic high school in Ann Arbor, Mi, is looking to hire a math teacher for the 2015-2016 school year.  We are looking for a teacher that is passionate about teaching math, but also passionate about teaching in a faith based school.  Candidates must have math teacher credentials in Michigan or be in the process of gaining these credentials.  We are looking for someone that is able to teach at both ends of the math spectrum, from pre-algebra to AP calculus.  Knowledge of the new national common core standards and curriculum development and assessment a plus. The current position is for Algebra I and Geometry and is a long term substitute position that could lead to a full time position for the next school year.

            The desired candidate for the position in a school of the Catholic Diocese of Lansing is a practicing Catholic, actively involved in parish life.  The desired candidate holds an M.A. (or equivalent) in an educational field (educational leadership preferred), is currently certified (or readily certifiable) as a Michigan teacher, and is eligible for Michigan Administrative Certification.  The desired candidate has at least ten years of teaching experience, experience at a school administration level, can effectively serve as the instructional leader of the school, is capable of formulating and administering the curriculum, and can adroitly oversee the school’s co-curricular programming.

Technology Teacher

St. Thomas School located in the historic Kerrytown area of Ann Arbor is seeking substitute teachers for the 2014-2015 school year.  We are a preschool through 8th grade Catholic school of approximately 210 students.  Qualified candidates should possess experience with the guided reading program and administering running records; display excellent classroom management skills and be able to provide examples of parent/teacher newsletters/correspondence.  Experience creating a strong classroom community will be essential as well as the importance of establishing strong professional relationships with families.

Requirements for the position:  a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a current Michigan teaching certificate; 1-3 years of classroom teaching experience; and be a practicing Catholic.
