Director of Evangelization, Discipleship, and Service

In the spirit of the New Evangelization called for by Saint John Paul II, and encouraged by Bishop Boyea's pastoral letter, "Go and Announce the Gospel of the Lord," we are creating a new position to help us firmly establish a culture of evangelization, discipleship, and service within our parish. Led by the Holy Spirit, we desire to increase our effectiveness in sharing the Gospel and forming parishioners who are disposed and equipped to live as disciples of Christ in their families, schools, workplaces, and communities.

The director will encourage and organize a variety of evangelistic opportunities for parishioners to encounter Christ and subsequently grow in faith, prayer, and discipleship. The director will be responsible for helping parishioners discern, cultivate, and employ their gifts and talents in service of the Kingdom of God in the parish and beyond. The director will oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers to help carry out the work of ministries within the parish. In short, the director will work closely with the pastoral team to firmly establish a culture of evangelization, discipleship, and service within the parish community.

Position Requirements:

Preferred candidates will be faithful and prayerful Catholics. They should be comfortable talking about their personal relationship with Jesus, and be able to speak with conviction about the life-changing nature of a life lived in the Holy Spirit. They should be motivated to help others come to know Jesus as Lord and to live lives of obedient faith.

Candidates should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. They should have a strong commitment to service and possess both the eagerness and ability to help others grow in their love of Jesus and their knowledge of the Catholic faith.

Candidates should possess at least a bachelor's degree in evangelization, catechesis, theology, or the equivalent. They should have at least two years of experience working in Catholic formation, evangelization, or the equivalent. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the charisms of administration, evangelism, leadership, and pastoring.

Director of Liturgical Music

This position is responsible for developing, planning and accompanying all liturgical music in the parish as well as working with our choir director.  This position is full time with a competative salary and benefits.

A profound understanding of liturgy, proficiency at playing the organ, and some experience with directing a choir and cantor is required. Director of Pro-Life Activities

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Director of Pro Life Activities.  The City of Houston is currently the fourth largest and one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. The Director of Pro Life Activities serves as the primary resource and staff person to the Archbishop, Chancellor and Moderator of the Curia, Pastors, Principals and Archdiocesan ministries in areas relating to the Church’s teaching on the sanctity of human life. In this capacity, this position provides service, support and resources in education and advocacy regarding public policy and church ministries in related areas. Knowledge of Catholic moral teaching in all areas related to the protection of human life, including the United States Bishops’ Ethical and Religious Directives for healthcare.  The Director of Pro Life Activities must be a practicing Catholic who embraces and models the teachings of the Church in personal comportment and professional activities and relationships. 

Successful applicants should have demonstrable experience with and the ability to implement and facilitate Pro Life programs that teach respect and protection for all human life from conception to natural death especially on behalf of those who are unborn, disabled, elderly, dying, or facing the death penalty. This includes education, promotion of pastoral care programs, and public policy advocacy focused on issues involving the defense of human life. The position requires collaborating with and advising archdiocesan leadership on issues related to evangelization and catechesis of Respect Life programs, activities and topics. In addition, the suitable candidate must be poised and confident educating a diverse group of volunteers with varying learning styles. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to multitask, take initiative and respond to deadlines. Attention to detail and sound judgment is essential along with excellent written and oral communication skills. Director of Cemeteries

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is seeking a candidate to direct and manage the Cemetery ministry and operations of its five cemeteries. The Director of Cemeteries will manage cemetery operations in accordance with relevant state codes and Catholic tradition concerning the burial of human remains; develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive sales and marketing plan that promotes Catholic burial tradition; oversee the financial management of the cemeteries which includes preparing and monitoring budgets; organize, supervise and direct the cemetery office and maintenance personnel in conjunction with Archdiocesan policy; counsels families and cemetery patrons;, and ensure that clergy are properly assisted during graveside services.

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston serves the spiritual needs of its 1.2 million Catholics with worship in over fourteen languages in 146 parishes throughout 10 counties. Associate Director for Liturgy and Liturgical Formation

The Associate Director for Liturgy and Liturgical Formation shares responsibility for the proper implementation and celebration of liturgy in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and has specific responsibility in the area of liturgical formation.  This position plans, prepares and implements programs for liturgical formation; serves as liturgical resource for parishes and archdiocesan offices; and assists in general liturgy preparation. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in Liturgical Theology with at least 3-5 years’ experience with liturgical preparation and minister formation in the parish as well as large archdiocesan events is essential.  This position requires computer literacy with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office.  Candidates should possess some basic formal music skills, including but not limited to sight-reading, keyboard, voice, and/or choral.

The Diocese of Gaylord seeks to fill the position of Director of Human Resources.  This full time position will have the primary responsibility for the development and recommendation of just and effective Human Resources policies for all parishes and schools; to serve as a professional resource for parishes, schools and agencies by providing training and consultation in human resource management.    Some experience and knowledge in immigration law and safe environment is necessary.   Two-three years of experience in a not for profit or Catholic organization, a commitment to safeguarding confidential information, strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work collaboratively is essential.   The successful candidate must be available to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed.  Prefer a Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.  A Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on Human Resource or equivalent in related field is desired.
