Positions Available

Mother Teresa House, Lansing

Relief Caregiver- Nights, Female

Qualifications: Must have a minimum of two years experience in caregiving.  Can lift and can use stairs, good hearing and vision, and keep up written and verbal communication with other workers according to our procedures. Demonstrated good independent judgement.   Embraces the mission and service attitude of the ministry. LPN or CNA preferred.  Experience with Hospice preferred. 

Duty summary:  Give personal care, and ensure safety and comfort for up to three terminally-ill people. 

Time Commitment:   Four or more shifts per month, as needed.  Shifts are typically are scheduled 10pm to 8am, and 5pm to 10pm. Cover vacations and up to half of holidays as needed. Participation in staff meetings, Mother Teresa House events, and ongoing training required.


Care Coordinator

Qualifications: Minimum two years caregiving experience required.  LPN preferred.  Management experience, hospice or home care experience preferred.   Social work, small business, or related experience a plus.

Duty: Ensure ongoing coordinated care for our terminally ill guests according to the mission and policies of Mother Teresa House.  This entails guiding and assisting lay volunteers and families in personal care of our guests, keeping up written and verbal instructions and records, collaborating with hospice workers. 

Time Commitment: Part time average of three days per week on site, including every other weekend and every Wednesday.  Must be available on call midnight to midnight on these three scheduled days, to come to the House when needed.

Volunteer Coordinator

Candidate is faith motivated and experienced, seeking a rewarding environment with impact on people’s lives. This person loves interaction with others, loves our mission, and can help us move forward. Assesses, plans and carries out volunteer and internship programs which provide care of terminally ill people at Mother Teresa House. Recruit, place, oversee training, keeps excellent records and ensures volunteer policies and procedures. Embraces and is ready to personally jump in with our primary work of caregiving. Leads meetings and ensures support for staff of 70 volunteers and interns.

This is a part time position, with potential for full time.

Part Time Music Minister

St. Therese Parish, Lansing

Sacramental Preparation Coordinator (Full-time)

St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish, Adrian
St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish, located one mile apart from each other in Adrian, Michigan, with a total of about 1,600 registered households, are seeking to hire together a minister responsible for the preparation of adults (R.C.I.A.) and youth/children (sacramental catechesis) for the sacraments of initiation; the recording of sacramental data; and the recording of training.  Sacramental Preparation Coordinator’s ministry is a full-time position that will include routine evening, and occasional weekend commitments, and increased hours during peak sacramental periods (Lent/Easter).  This minister will be under the supervision of the Pastors of St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Parishes, work with the staff members of both parishes, serve the parishioners of both parishes, and be the pastors’ liaison to the Diocese regarding matters related to recording sacramental data, and maintaining records related to the diocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection.
Ministry related to adults includes coordinating a single Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program for both parishes (with Liturgical rites taking place at both parishes), empowering a team of volunteer ministers to assist with the RCIA program (team leaders, sponsors), and recording the appropriate data in each of the parishes sacramental registers.
Ministry related to children/youth includes coordinating infant baptism preparation classes, empowering volunteer ministers to carry out these classes, preparing students and parents for first Reconciliation, first Eucharist, and Confirmation.
Preferred candidates will have experience working in a parish catechetical program, or Catholic education;  good organizational skills; excellent verbal and written skills; team building and team working skills; and good canonical standing with the Catholic Church.  Ideal candidates will have some command of Spanish and comfort working with Latino Catholic culture.

Director of Liturgical Music

A profound understanding of liturgy, proficiency at playing the organ, experience with directing a choir and cantor is required. Foster Home Licensing Specialist

Recruits and licenses families for the purpose of providing foster homes to care for foster children.  Provides a consultative and supportive role for the foster families in meeting the needs of foster children.  Promotes skill and knowledge, development of foster parents by providing ongoing training and workshops.

Complete all initial, renewal, annual, and adjustment licensing requirements in a thorough and timely manner.

Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related human service field.  The following degrees are acceptable: social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology, and criminal justice.

Foster Care Caseworker (2 Positions Available)

St Vincent Catholic Charities, Lansing
Provides and implements a workable plan to increase the level of functioning of the foster child and the birth family where applicable.  Works cooperatively with foster families, birth families, foster child, referral agency, school personnel, and other professional personnel involved in the treatment of the foster child.  Provides a consultative and supportive role for foster families in meeting the needs of the foster child. 
Duties include but are not limited to:
Attend, provide reports, and testify for required court hearings (Preliminary, Pre-Trial, Dispositional, Review, Permanent Wardship, etc.);
Prepare and place child in his/her designated foster home, determine child’s need of clothing and personal items, and inform foster parents of child’s background and other necessary information;
Complete Initial Service Plan within 30 days of the child entering agency care;
Complete Updated Service Plan quarterly for each child in care;
Follow DHS requirements for regular visitations or contact between foster child and the birth family;
Assist in placement of foster children into foster homes or in their return to the birth family or other permanent placement;
Complete all required paperwork for the Court and DHS throughout the case and during the supervision period;
Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation to answer crisis calls and provide supportive services to foster & adoptive parents, children, and their families;
Participate in any additional, reasonable, responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Foster Care Program Manager;
Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human behavioral science,                         Master’s preferred.
Experience: Some clinical and case management experience with children and families preferred.
