I am from Holy Spirit parish in Brighton. When I was growing up, I went to Spiritus Sanctus Academy in Ann Arbor. It was there that I first felt that I might become a priest one day. I was blessed to have daily Mass at school and regular times for confession and adoration. I continued to grow in my faith and ask God from time to time, “Do you want me to be a priest?” I decided to go to Detroit Catholic Central High School where I continued to ask God this question in the midst of school activities. I continued to go to Mass and confession often. I would ask various priests at my school and church what it was like for them to be a priest and what made them want to be a priest. After my junior year in high school I became sure that even if I did not have a call to the priesthood, I at least was being called to discern it seriously by going to the seminary.
After speaking with the vocation director, I visited St. John Vianney Seminary in St. Paul, MN and applied to be a seminarian for the diocese. In seminary, I have met people who have become my closest friends and brothers. I have learned a lot from my studies of Philosophy and Theology. I have struggled to overcome my weaknesses, accept my limitations, and grow in prayer. My call to be a priest has been challenged, deepened, and strengthened. I have grown in my relationship with Christ, and I trust him more than I ever did before I am now in my third year of theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, MI and I am looking forward to being ordained a deacon in May of 2019 and a priest in 2020.
