Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

This week On the Road to Emmaus we pause for some inspiration. The corporal works of mercy are a set of seven divine commands given to us by Jesus. They are largely hewn from Chapter 25 of the Gospel of Matthew. That’s where we find Christ’s sermon on the Last Judgement. Each work is a practical act of love that is pleasing to God. Among the list is the visiting of prisoners. Hence, this week on the Road to Emmaus, we will do just that as we visit Parnall Correctional Facility at Michigan State Prison in Jackson. Leading us on our visit will be those clerics who faithfully bring Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist to those who live life behind bars.
