Divina Miseratione et Apostolicce Sedis Gratia
Having presented a request on October 4, 2018, the Reverend Monsignor George C. Michalek, pastor of the parish of Saint Mary, in the village of Morrice, within Perry Township, Shiawassee County, submitted that due consideration be given to a recommendation made unanimously on September 24, 2018 by the parish council of Saint Mary, Morrice, that the same parish be transferred from the Genesee-Shiawassee Vicariate and joined to the Ingham-Clinton-Eaton Vicariate.
In order that the pastoral mission and care of souls be made more effective in this district, and likewise considering longstanding historical and cultural ties, as well as geographical proximity, to the greater Lansing area, I find it apt that in this instance a modification be made to my decree of September 15, 2014 by which the parishes formerly belonging to the dissolved Clinton-Shiawassee Vicariate were reattributed to other vicariates which were likewise renamed by means of that same decree.
Therefore, having given consideration to the reasons brought forward, I, the undersigned Bishop of Lansing, hereby decree the transfer of the parish of Saint Mary, Morrice, from the Genesee-Shiawassee Vicariate and attribute the same parish to the Ingham-Clinton-Eaton Vicariate.
It is further ordered that this decree be posted on the website of the Diocese of Lansing and that such posting will be considered the official notification.
I further order that this decree is to be attached to the decree of September 15, 2014.
The present decree is to be conveyed to the reverend pastor of Saint Mary, Morrice, who is to publish it and make its contents known to the People of God in an appropriate manner after its promulgation. As well, the Vicar General, and the Vicars Forane of the affected Vicariates, are to be notified.
This decree is to take immediate effect upon posting.
Anything to the contrary notwithstanding.
Given at the Curia of the Diocese of Lansing on this the 9th day of October, in the year of our Lord, 2018, the memorial of Saint Denis, Bishop, and Companions, Martyrs.
