The Immaculate Heart of Mary is a radiant sign of hope for each of us, writes Father Jim Rolph, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Lansing, pictured below, upon the start of August, the Month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
In a world burdened by sin, suffering, and uncertainty, Mary’s Immaculate Heart remains pure, steadfast, and entirely open to the will of God - and available to each one of us!
Her Immaculate Heart, full of love for her Son and for each of us, reminds us that holiness and union with Jesus is possible, even amid the trials of this life.
She endured sorrow and suffering — from Simeon’s prophecy to standing at the foot of the Cross — yet never lost faith in God’s goodness and promises.
In her maternal love, Mary draws each of us into her Immaculate Heart, encouraging us to "do whatever he tells you"(John 2:5).
When we feel overwhelmed or far from God, we can run to her Immaculate Heart as a refuge and source of consolation. Through her, hope can be rekindled, and we are reminded that God’s grace is always at work, transforming our hearts and empowering us to give our responding "yes!" to God, just as she did.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!
