St. Joseph Parish in Adrian hosted the Senior Appreciation Mass sponsored and organized by Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale and members of the Catholic Council on Aging. Area priests attending to honor the senior parishioners in the Lenawee/Hillsdale Vicariate for their faithful lives and support of the Church included: Father Daniel Wheeler, pastor, St. Elizabeth, Tecumseh; Father Joseph Krupp, pastor, Sacred Heart, Hudson and St. Mary on the Lake, Manitou Beach; Father Paul Ruddy, St. Elizabeth, Tecumseh; Father Robert Pienta, pastor, St. Joseph Shrine, Brooklyn; Father Anthony Strouse, administrator, St. Joseph, Adrian; and Father Louis Komorowski, OSFS, St. Mary of Good Counsel, Adrian.
Father Anthony Strouse gave the homily. He talked about tradition and said, “Our faith is handed down from others. It is the pearl of great price. We also need to hand down the gift of mercy, the gift of forgiveness.”
After Mass, Sue Lewis, executive director, Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale, welcomed the seniors to the luncheon. Thomas McDaid, St. Mary of Good Counsel parishioner since 1970, won the opportunity to have lunch with Bishop emeritus Carl Mengeling.
