Watch: Diocese of Lansing Podcast #8: Saint Padre Pio is coming to town!

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (1887 – 1968), often referred to as simply Padre Pio, was a well-known and much-loved Italian Capuchin friar, priest, mystic and stigmatist. That means he physically bore the wounds of Christ crucified. He was canonized in 2002 by Pope Saint John Paul II.

This month will see the relics of Padre Pio tour the Diocese of Lansing for public veneration (September 19 - 25). This includes a visit by the relics to Saint Mary Cathedral in Lansing upon the Feast of Saint Pio, September 23.

In this Diocese of Lansing Podcast, the Founder and Chief Executive of the Saint Pio Foundation, Luciano Lamonarca, explains why he is excited to bring the relics of this much loved saint to the Diocese of Lansing. Asking the questions is the Diocesan Director of Communications, David Kerr.
