Here are some lovely photographs sent to us by the Church of the Resurrection School in Lansing whose staff and students braved the elements early this morning to pray the Holy Rosary along the capital’s Michigan Avenue.
“October is the month of the Holy Rosary and, so, this seemed like a great way for our school community to mark the occasion and to ask for Our Lady’s intercession and protection for our school, our city of Lansing and, indeed, our entire country,” said school principal, Jacob Allstott, October 29.
This morning’s public Rosary was in response to a request from the America Needs Fatima organization which promotes the pious practice across the country.
The Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a timeless devotion in honor of the Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, which enables those praying it to meditate upon the life, death, resurrection and ascension of her beloved son.
As is universal custom on a Tuesday, this morning saw those praying the Rosary in the Michigan rain meditate upon five sorrowful scenes from the lives of Jesus and Mary: The Agony in the Garden; the Scourging at the Pillar; the Crowning with Thorns; the Carrying of the Cross; the Crucifixion.
Well done to all at the Church of the Resurrection School. Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for them! Our Lady of Fatima, pray for them!
