Read: Saint Thomas the Apostle | Before and After

The internationally recognized Conrad Schmitt Studios recently posted "before and after" images of their artistic work at Saint Thomas the Apostle in Ann Arbor…and we thought you’d like to see them too.

“This is a great example of ‘liturgical art’ in that it adapts a historical scene from the life of Christ, but also shows by the sky and the stars and the Spirit descending in the form of a dove that heaven and earth are overlapping, connecting!” said Jeremy Priest, Director of the Office of Worship for the Diocese of Lansing, May 23.

“This is the mystery of the Church: Christ unites heaven and earth and draws us into the Union of Father, Son, and Spirit through the Sacraments!”

Saint Thomas is a 120-year-old Romanesque church. It originally featured a prominent mural of Christ’s Ascension into Heaven on its domed ceiling. With limited capacity for services during the pandemic, the parish took advantage of the available time to re-create the Ascension mural. Two new side murals were also created to honor Saint Thomas, their patron.

Saint Thomas the Apostle, pray for us!
