Read: Meet Our New Teachers | Diocesan New Teacher Institute 2022

Smile! Here’s a great photo of just some of the 60 new teaching recruits to schools across the Diocese of Lansing who participated in two days of prayer and study at the diocesan New Teacher Institute, August 10-11, at Saint Francis Retreat Center in DeWitt.

“It’s was a very blessed two days full of listening, learning, talking, laughing and, most importantly, praying – spending time with Jesus Christ who, as our Divine Teacher, is the model for all Catholic educators,” said Tom Maloney, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Lansing, August 12.

“It’s was very reassuring to witness the deep faith, fervor and learning of each of our new teachers as we prepare to embark upon a new school year – please do keep all of them in your prayers.”

The New Teacher Institute is an initiative of the Schools Department of the Diocese of Lansing. The aim of the institute is to share an authentically Catholic vision of education with new recruits to Diocese of Lansing schools while also helping them to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and His Holy Church in both prayer and sacrament.

Those gathered at Saint Francis Retreat Center this week included experienced teachers who, up until recently, have been working in the state school system or for other dioceses, while other participants are fresh out of college or are switching professions mid-career. Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for them!
