Letter from Father Ken Coughlin to Holy Family Parish, Grand Blanc

The following letter from Fr Ken Coughlin was read at all Masses the weekend of Novemer 29-30, 2014, at Holy Family Church, Grand Blanc
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

These past seven months have been the most trying time in my life.  Only through the grace of God and my deep faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, have I embraced this cross.  I also know this has been a difficult cross for the whole parish, however, you were never far from my heart and I have prayed for you daily while I have been on administrative leave.  I apologize to anyone I may have hurt by my actions; it was never my intention to do so.  I thank those who have prayed for me and I am especially grateful to those who supported me with their letters, cards and heartfelt words during this difficult time.

After meeting with Bishop Boyea this past Monday and listening to his wisdom as our shepherd, I have decided, out of obedience to him and for the good of Holy Family Parish, to accept a new assignment.  As of December 1st, I will be a Parochial Vicar at the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing. Although this isn’t an easy decision, I humbly accept this new assignment for me and for all of you.  It is because I love being a priest and serving God’s Kingdom, that I look forward to doing God’s will where He desires.

In closing, I invite all of you to please join me for a farewell Mass at 12:00 noon on December 7th, with a reception to follow.  I look forward to seeing all of you next Sunday and offering my gratitude for the seven plus years we have been together.  Be assured of my continued prayers and may the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph bring peace and unity to us all.

In Christ Jesus,

Fr. Ken
