Happy Feast of Corpus Christi!

Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi, whereupon the Church Universal gives homage and thanks to Jesus Christ who instituted the Holy Eucharist, the Church’s greatest treasure.

To mark the occasion, here are some lovely images, which have sent to us, capturing today’s Corpus Christi procession around the neighborhoods of the Church of the Resurrection parish in Lansing and led by its pastor. Father Steve Mattson. Similar scenes were to be witnessed today across the Diocese of Lansing. Happy feast day! As today’s collect at Holy Mass prays:

“O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament have left us a memorial of your Passion, grant us, we pray, so to revere the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of your redemption. Who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, on God, for ever and ever.”

The Solemnity of Corpus Christi is celebrated either on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday or the following Sunday. The feast was instituted by Pope Urban IV in 1246.
