May 10 at 12:05 p.m. a Mass was celebrated by Father John Linden at St. Mary Cathedral for the 70th anniversary of the living and deceased members of St. Mary’s class of 1946. Attending the Mass were 13 classmates who came from California and the cities of Cheboygan, Livonia, St. Johns, Lansing and Bath.Master of Ceremonies John "Jack" Buchel greeted those gathered with a huge welcome in the Cathedral Hall’s St. Elizabeth Seton Room. Everyone attending received a copy of the class motto Not For Today But for Tomorrow reunion booklet prepared by Mary Lou Roche Rowlett.
Catherine Tallarico Epling gave the toast and all sang a hearty happy birthday to her. Pianist Mrs. Molly Bacon delightfully played 1940 songs during the deliciously catered meal. Reminiscing abounded as members looked at memorabilia, identified pictures of past anniversaries and viewed a Deceased Roster Memorial. A time of silent prayer was held for 43 deceased classmates. This was a wonderful occasion that ended with everyone proudly singing The Bells of St. Mary. All felt richly blessed to have achieved their 70th year since graduation.
