Jesus Cleanses a Leper
1 When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him; 2 and behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” 3 And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to the people.”
Jesus Heals a Centurion’s Servant
5 As he entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, begging him 6 and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress.” 7 And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But the centurion answered him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith. 11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.” 13 And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.
Jesus Heals Many at Peter’s House
14 And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever; 15 he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served him. 16 That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick. 17 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
Would-be Followers of Jesus
18 Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. 19 And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.” 21 Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”
Jesus Calms the Storm at Sea
23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
Jesus Heals the Gadarene Demoniacs
28 And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. 29 And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” 30 Now a herd of many swine was feeding at some distance from them. 31 And the demons begged him, “If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.” 32 And he said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the swine; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and perished in the waters. 33 The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, and what had happened to the demoniacs. 34 And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their neighborhood.

1 Al bajar del monte le seguía una gran
multitud. 2 En esto, se le acercó un leproso,
se postró ante él y dijo:
–Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme.
3 Y extendiendo Jesús la mano, le
tocó diciendo:
–Quiero, queda limpio.
Y al instante quedó limpio de la lepra.
4 Entonces le dijo Jesús:
–Mira, no lo digas a nadie; pero
anda, preséntate al sacerdote y lleva la
ofrenda que ordenó Moisés, para que
les sirva de testimonio.
5 Al entrar en Cafarnaún se le acercó
un centurión que le rogó:
6 –Señor, mi criado yace paralítico
en casa con dolores muy fuertes.
7 Jesús le dijo:
–Yo iré y le curaré.
8 Pero el centurión le respondió:
–Señor, no soy digno de que entres
en mi casa. Pero basta que lo digas de
palabra y mi criado quedará sano. 9 Pues
también yo soy un hombre que se encuentra
bajo disciplina y tengo soldados
a mis órdenes. Le digo a uno: Vete, y
va; y a otro: Ven, y viene; y a mi siervo:
Haz esto, y lo hace.
10 Al oírlo Jesús se admiró y les dijo a
los que le seguían:
–En verdad os digo que en nadie de
Israel he encontrado una fe tan grande.
11 Y os digo que muchos de oriente
y occidente vendrán y se sentarán a la
mesa con Abrahán, Isaac y Jacob en el
Reino de los Cielos, 12 mientras que los
hijos del Reino serán arrojados a las tinieblas
de afuera: allí habrá llanto y rechinar
de dientes.
13 Y le dijo Jesús al centurión:
–Vete y que se haga conforme has
creído.
Y en aquel momento quedó sano el
criado.
14 Al llegar Jesús a casa de Pedro vio
a la suegra de éste en cama, con fiebre.
15 La tomó de la mano y le desapareció la
fiebre; entonces ella se levantó y se puso
a servirle.
16 Al atardecer, le trajeron muchos
endemoniados; expulsó a los espíritus
con su palabra y curó a todos los enfermos,
17 para que se cumpliera lo dicho
por medio del profeta Isaías:
Él tomó nuestras dolencias
y cargó con nuestras enfermedades.
18 Al ver Jesús a la multitud que estaba
a su alrededor, ordenó marchar a
la otra orilla. 19 Y se le acercó un escriba:
–Maestro, te seguiré adonde vayas –
le dijo.
20 Jesús le contestó:
–Las zorras tienen sus guaridas y los
pájaros del cielo sus nidos, pero el Hijo
del Hombre no tiene dónde reclinar la
cabeza.
21 Otro de sus discípulos le dijo:
–Señor, permíteme ir primero a enterrar
a mi padre.
22 –Sígueme y deja a los muertos enterrar
a sus muertos –le respondió Jesús.
23 Se subió después a una barca, y le siguieron
sus discípulos. 24 De repente se
levantó en el mar una tempestad tan grande
que las olas cubrían la barca; pero él
dormía. 25 Se le acercaron para despertarle
diciendo:
–¡Señor, sálvanos, que perecemos!
26 Jesús les respondió:
–¿Por qué os asustáis, hombres de
poca fe?
Entonces, puesto en pie, increpó
a los vientos y al mar y sobrevino una
gran calma. 27 Los hombres se asombraron
y dijeron:
–¿Quién es éste, que hasta los vientos
y el mar le obedecen?
28 Al llegar a la orilla opuesta, a la región
de los gadarenos, vinieron a su encuentro
dos endemoniados, que salían
de los sepulcros, tan furiosos que nadie
podía transitar por aquel camino. 29 Y en
esto, se pusieron a gritar diciendo:
–¿Qué tenemos que ver contigo,
Hijo de Dios? ¿Has venido aquí antes de
tiempo para atormentarnos?
30 Había no lejos de ellos una gran
piara de cerdos paciendo. 31 Los demonios
le suplicaban:
–Si nos expulsas, envíanos a la piara
de cerdos.
32 Les respondió:
–Id.
Y ellos salieron y entraron en los
cerdos. Entonces toda la piara se lanzó
corriendo por la pendiente hacia el
mar y pereció en el agua. 33 Los porqueros
huyeron y, al llegar a la ciudad, contaron
todas estas cosas, y lo sucedido a
los endemoniados. 34 Así que toda la ciudad
vino al encuentro de Jesús y, cuando
le vieron, le rogaron que se alejara de
su región.
