Family Resources for Bishop's Year of the Bible: Week 49

The Book of the Prophet Hosea
God’s first commandment given to us is to Love God with all our heart. God compares His love for us like a husband to a wife. The book of Hosea shows us how to be faithful to God, just as a husband and wife should be faithful to each other. God uses this example to show how He loves us. We stray away from God sometimes and lose faith, we become unfaithful. God is always there ready to forgive us when we are truly sorry for our sin. God will always remain faithful to us.

Straight are the paths of the LORD, the just walk in them, but sinners stumble in them."

The Book of Revelation
We are now beginning The Book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible! The book of Revelation gives us a view of scripture we have not yet seen. It is written with symbolic language and imagery. John is on the Island of Patmos and has visions he shares to enlighten the reader to the Glory of God. God speaks to us through these words and shows us how to remain with him until the end of time. How to keep Hope in Christ's Final victory over death when He will come again in all His Glory. A time when God will be all in all. A time when there will be a new heaven and a new earth. All will be in communion subject to Him. We ponder through these words of radiance and wonder what this time will be like when all are in the full presence of God forever.

Revelation 1:5b-6, 8

"to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the one who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (v.5b)

  • I wonder about God’s kingdom and what role we have that brings God Glory.
  • I wonder about the names of God, the Alpha the Omega and the Almighty. What do these names tell us of God.
