Spiritus Sanctus Academy in Plymouth , Michigan, is accepting applications for an enthusiastic and committed part-time K-8 general music teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.
Responsibilities include teaching general music classes to grade K-8, preparing students for various musical performances throughout the year, as well as after school choir (1 day a week) and band (2 days a week)
This position is a shared time position through public school system.
Successful candidates will posses the following qualifications:
Current State of Michigan Teaching Certificate in Music Education (or certification from a state with a reciprocal agreement with Michigan);
A familiarity with the riches of the centuries-long Catholic sacred music tradition, and an ability to incorporate these into music instruction;
A love for Catholic liturgy, celebrated according to the rubrics of the Church;
A practicing Catholic, passionate about creating and nurturing a Catholic culture in the classroom and throughout the school;
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
Previous experience teaching in a Catholic school is preferred.
Participation in the VIRTUS program, or proof of such participation, will be required.
