2017 Rite of Election

On Sunday March 5, the Rite of Election was held at several sites throughout the Diocese of Lansing, including St Mary Cathedral, Lansing.  Presided over by Bishop Boyea, the Rite of Election is the ritual that marks our catechumen's entry into the final phase of their preparation to receive the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil. Following the Rite of Election, they are called “the elect,” since they have been elected by the Church (in the person of the bishop) to become members.
