

Praesidium Called to Protect for Youth
In the 2009-10 school year, the Diocese will introduce a new safe environment program for grades 6-12. It is titled: Called to Protect for Youth produced by Praesidium. Several dioceses are using Called to Protect. Praesidium has two decades of experience working with dioceses, religious, schools, YMCAs, camps, childcare, and social service programs in the area of safe environment.
The program includes a DVD hosted by Katie and Szucceed, two engaging young adults. The three-part series teaches middle and high school students:
Train the Trainers workshops are scheduled (see below). Time is 9:00am - 3:00 p.m. Christy Schiller, Praesidium’s Called to Protect ™ Program Manager will facilitate the training. Principals, DREs, CYM’s and staff who will be teaching the material are required to attend one of the sessions:
Tue. August 18 - Lansing Catholic Central High School
Wed. August 19 - Father Luke M. Powers High School, Flint
Thur. August 20 - Father Gabriel Richard High School, Ann Arbor
Fri. August 21 - Queen of the Miraculous Medal School, Jackson
One training manual will be provided to each parish and to each school.
Lunch will be included. Registration fee is $10 to help defray the cost of light refreshments in the morning and lunch.
