The Office of Pastoral Planning (OPP) serves the diocese in several ways:
As collaborators with the Diocesan Pastoral Council, to serve as a catalyst and resource to parishes, regions, vicariates and the diocese in the implementation of the seven goals of the diocesan pastoral plan;
As the diocesan office charged to oversee the implementation of Planning Tomorrow's Churches (specifically in 2010-2011, a process will be put into place through which data from parishes will be collected once annually. Parishes will use an on-line input process. Training will take place in the four regions of the diocese sometime in spring 2011.) ;
As a resource to parish pastoral councils (see Parish Councils and Commissions Guidelines) ;
As an Office of Research in collecting, compiling and analyzing data for various diocesan entities ;
As the diocesan office charged to facilitate the over-all planning of the Common Conference 2011.
