Human Trafficking Seminar
The Department of Catholic Charities is sponsoring a one-day seminar on Human Trafficking - Juvenile Sexploitation, April 24, 2008 at the Sarvis Center, Flint, and again on April 25, 2008 at Washtenaw Community College, Ann Arbor. This seminar is especially aimed at professionals in the areas of: law enforcement; prosecution; nursing/medicine; public health; school safety; social work; immigration; and, domestic violence prevention, though all are welcome to attend. Bishops Approve "Faithful Citizenship: A Call to Political Responsibility"
On Wednesday, November 14, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) overwhelmingly approved a statement called "Faithful Citizenship: A Call to Political Responsibility from the Catholic Bishops of the United States". The statement urges Catholics to be involved in public life and to use the values of their faith to shape their political choice.

Stem CellCatholic Dioceses Launch Massive Statewide Stem Cell Education Program
In an effort to communicate the Catholic Church’s teaching on human life as it relates to adult and embryonic stem cell research, the Michigan Catholic Conference announces the state’s seven diocesan bishops have launched a monumental internal education program that includes over 500,000 Catholic homes and nearly 800 parishes.
