Indonesian Earthquake Relief
Right now, hundreds of thousands of homeless people are struggling to survive amid destruction of a 6.3-magnitude earthquake that struck near the city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in the early morning hours of Saturday May 27.
* More than 5,700 people were killed.
* More than 200,000 people are homeless.
* Hospitals are overwhelmed with more than 20,000 people injured.
Catholic Relief Services was on the ground when the earthquake happened. CRS and our partners in the region are distributing temporary shelter material and emergency items, including clothes, pots and pans, soap and other hygiene supplies to those left homeless. CRS has been working in Indonesia since 1957 to help the poor and the disadvantaged. We also work to strengthen people's capacity to become self-reliant and better prepared for natural disasters.
The earthquake victims in Indonesia desperately need your help now.
