FOCCUS/Sponsor Couple Training

The FOCCUS TRAINING is more than helping married couples with instruction and understanding the scoring of the FOCCUS Assessment Instrument. The FOCCUS TRAINING is an opportunity to help strengthen skills, provide information to the married couples and stress the important role they represent as part of the engaged couples' marriage preparation. The FOCCUS couples are valuable because they can share their unique experiences of married life with the engaged couples. Their ministry provides a significant connection to the church. The married couple has an opportunity to evangelize the engaged couple by displaying and sharing their faith. To assist the FOCCUS couple with their role, training is provided by the diocese and parish. The training entails strengthening and enhancing their skills and education in the following areas: Communication Skills, Sexuality and Natural Family Planning, Finance, Religion, Spirituality, Cohabitation, Gender Difference, Parenting, Family of Origin, and Interfaith Marriage.
